Looking through Castagnari's beautiful new catalog, I spied a new addition -- the "Brio," a beginner's melodeon. I have to say, I don't think that I've ever seen an entry-level musical instrument as elegant as the Brio. Walnut is such a lovely choice for diatonic accordions, and the simple lines of the Brio leave nothing to distract from the beauty of the wood. Photo from Castagnari/Maison d'Accordeon.
I noticed this in the catalogue, too. "Pour le debutants." I wonder what qualities make it "beginner-ish." The Nik, which I own, is a two row, eight bass, no stops device, but not a beginner piece. Is it the reed quality?
ReplyDeleteThe Studio and Brio are "student" boxes with machine reeds, whereas the Nik has super durall reeds -- the next level up. I wonder whether the mechanical parts are also different.
ReplyDeleteThe Brio also appears to have a closed keyboard, which could mean (light and fast) aluminium rather than wooden action...
ReplyDeleteMay be silly, but I wonder if it could be ordered with durall reeds?
